ABOUT

Acadia Allison B.Sc, R.Ac

The human body amazes me! This fascination of mine started while I was in high school at ESC Algonquin, and it led me to pursue continuing education in health sciences. While receiving my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Nipissing University, I took several courses that prepared me for my current role as an acupuncturist. There was one class in particular where I learned about health and healing in cultures from around the world. This is when I was first introduced to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) acupuncture, and its benefits for so many health conditions.

After I graduated University in 2015, I took a year off to work, and figure out which path to take next. When I decided to go back to school, I came across an Acupuncture program being offered at Georgian College, and I applied! During the program I learned about this whole other side to healing. I fell in love with the way this medicine views the body. Its connection to nature and the universe. The patterns, cycles, and routines. The hands on approach to healing. All of it! After 8 semesters straight of TCM knowledge and clinical experience, I successfully passed my registration exams with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) in May 2019, and became a Registered Acupuncturist!

about acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese healing method that has been used for thousands of years.

It is based on the principle that there is an energy, known as Qi, that flows throughout the body in channels called meridians.

When there is smooth flow and ample Qi, the body functions properly. When there are blockages or deficiencies of Qi, different illnesses can manifest.

Acupuncture is when hair-thin, sterile needles are placed in acupuncture points along the meridians.

These points are chosen based on the signs and symptoms expressed by the patient as well as the underlying reason why these patterns are occurring.

The acupuncture points are stimulated to trigger a natural healing response, which rebalances the energy in the channels and releases blockages.
